2023 salary adjustment for institutions on the Single Spine Salary Structure
The Ministry of Finance in Ghana has recently released the 2023 salary adjustment list for institutions on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).
The official letter signed by Honorable Abena Osei-Asare (MP), who is also the Deputy Minister for the Ministry, communicated how the adjustment will be carried out.
According to the Ministry, the 2023 Single Spine base pay has been negotiated and approved, and a thirty percent (30%) across-board salary increase has been incorporated into the attached salary structure marked ‘Appendix A.’ This structure will be used to effect the payment of salaries for Public Service Institutions on the SSSS.
The effective date of implementation is January 1, 2023. The Ministry has reminded the Controller & Accountant-General’s Department that interim market premium payments to existing beneficiaries should be calculated based on the 2012 Single Spine base salary and not the enhanced 2023 Single Spine base salary, in accordance with the government’s White paper (paragraph 3.6b) on the Guidelines for the implementation of market premium.
The salary structure has been provided in a tabular format in Appendix A for easy reference.
This adjustment is expected to bring relief to workers on the SSSS, who have been experiencing financial difficulties due to the effects of inflation and other economic challenges. The increase in salaries will help to improve their purchasing power and standard of living.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Finance’s announcement of the 2023 salary adjustment list for institutions on the Single Spine Salary Structure is a positive development that will improve the financial well-being of workers in Ghana.
The government’s commitment to ensuring that public servants receive fair compensation for their work is commendable and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the economy as a whole.
