2023 School Selection: Category ‘A’ Boys Schools In Greater Accra Region

Out of the over 51 Senior High Schools in the Greater Accra region, only seven are category A schools. This makes it the second region in Ghana with the most category ‘A’ schools (behind Eastern region who currently has 9).

1. Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC)
Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) is a prestigious secondary boarding school for boys, in Legon, Accra, Ghana. The school is often referred to as the best school in the region and also in the whole of Ghana. It is a category A school. For the past few years, the school has maintained it status and has proven it again in series of academic competitions.

2. Accra Academy
The Accra Academy was the first private academy to be established in the Gold Coast, present-day Ghana. The academy is one of the foremost secondary educational institutions in Ghana and operates as a non-denominational day and boarding boys’ school, located at Bubuashie, near Kaneshie in the Greater Accra Region.
3. St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School
St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School is a Ghanaian public day senior high school for boys in the Osu, district of Accra in, the Greater Accra Region. The school is currently located in Cantonment in Accra.
The school was established to provide education for boys of the Accra Archdiocese of the Catholic Church whose parents could not afford the then cost of sending their male children to boarding schools. It was established in 1952. It is one of the best schools in the Greater Accra Region
