The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the official reopening and vacation dates for SHS1 and SHTS students.
The release dates are for the first term of the 2024–2025 academic year for Senior High Schools (SHS1) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS1) students. This announcement pertains to 2024 BECE candidates who took their examinations between July 8th and 15th, 2024.
The announcement was contained in a press release by the management of pre-tertiary education.
According to the press release, the dates are as follows:
Reopening date: Friday, 27th September 2024 Vacation date: Friday, 6th December 2024
This period translates into 70 days or 10 weeks of schooling for learners from 27th September 2024 to 6th December 2024.
These learners will also be the first batch of students under the new SHS system starting in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The GES added that all other semester activities, programs, and arrangements will remain unchanged.
The press release was signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah (Mr.), Acting Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, on behalf of the Director-General.
In a related development, the Director General of the GES has hinted that the school selection phase of the 2024 BECE will start after the exam. At the time of this publication the GES had not released any new updates.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) hereby announces the reopening schedule for first-year students of Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) for the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Reopening Date: Friday, 27th September 2024
- Vacation Date: Friday, 6th December 2024
All other activities, programs, and arrangements for the semester will remain unchanged.
