Your 24-hour economy not doable under this economic condition – KSM
In a candid interview on Starr Chat with host Bola Ray, celebrated Ghanaian satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa, popularly known as KSM, weighed in on the feasibility of implementing a 24-hour economy in Ghana under its current economic climate.
KSM opined that the vision of a round-the-clock operational economy, as previously suggested by former President John Mahama, is contingent upon the nation’s economic health, which he currently views as less than optimal for such an ambitious undertaking.
According to KSM, while the concept of a 24-hour economy is appealing and could potentially keep the nation’s economic wheels turning without interruption, such a model demands a robust and thriving economic environment to be viable.
“I think the idea of a 24-hour economy is great and good to know that around the clock we are working and the economy will be moving. But my advice to Mahama is to understand that a 24-hour economy is possible and recommended when the economy is running,” he explained during the conversation.

The satirist, known for his critical and often humorous take on social and political issues, highlighted the current economic challenges facing Ghana, suggesting that the priority should be to stabilize and rejuvenate the economy before embarking on implementing a 24-hour economic system.
“There is an economy that is booming, but where we are now, we are going in reverse.
You must stop the reverse, make it stable, and fix everything that you need to fix then let’s start moving forward.
Then in our movement forward you fix in the 24-hour economy and other thing that you want to do,” he elaborated.
KSM’s remarks underscore the necessity of establishing a solid economic foundation as a precursor to the realization of a 24-hour economy.
He stressed the importance of halting the economic downturn and setting the country on a path of stability and growth.
“You have to set the economy on a firm footing, the economy is now like a free fall. I am not making these statements as a politician, I am making these statements as a concerned citizen of Ghana, KSM who is seeing things.I lived it and I know and saying that we need to stop the free fall,” he stated.
His insights contribute to the ongoing debate about the practicality of transitioning to a 24-hour economy in Ghana, emphasizing the need for a careful assessment of the country’s economic readiness and the steps necessary to ensure a successful implementation of such a model.
