The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns against fake travel stamps
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told Ghanaians, especially those planning to travel, to avoid people who offer fake immigration stamps or travel papers to fake travel histories.
In a public notice on May 1, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had learned of several Ghanaians abroad who had been arrested after foreign officials found fake stamps in their passports.
Forgery described as serious crime
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that faking travel documents is a serious crime under both Ghanaian law and the laws of many other countries.
The statement stated that “Such crimes may bring big penalties, including arrest and prosecution, jail time, large fines, deportation and long travel bans.”
It also warned that agents who do these things are breaking the law and risk bringing serious legal trouble to themselves and their clients.

Travelers told to use official channels
The Ministry urged the public to handle visas and all travel papers only through official and approved channels.
It also told travelers to avoid giving their passports to unauthorized people and reminded them that they are always personally responsible for what is in their own travel documents.
Help for Ghanaians abroad
The statement told Ghanaians living or travelling abroad to strictly follow the immigration laws of their host countries and to reach out to Ghana’s embassies when needed.
the statement ended that “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is still committed to protecting Ghanaians abroad and will keep working with Ghana’s embassies and other authorities to handle these cases.”
No one should risk their freedom for a fake stamp. Always use legal routes. If something looks too easy, it is likely a trap. Stay safe and travel right.
