The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told Ghanaians, especially those planning to travel, to avoid people who offer fake immigration stamps or travel papers to fake travel histories.
In a public notice on May 1, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had learned of several Ghanaians abroad who had been arrested after foreign officials found fake stamps in their passports.
Forgery described as serious crime
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that faking travel documents is a serious crime under both Ghanaian law and the laws of many other countries.
The statement stated that “Such crimes may bring big penalties, including arrest and prosecution, jail time, large fines, deportation and long travel bans.”
It also warned that agents who do these things are breaking the law and risk bringing serious legal trouble to themselves and their clients.
