GES Special COVID-19 Message to parents and teachers was as a Text Message to its players.
It called on them to support efforts and ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols in schools.
This is the first time GES has sent such a message to all Ghanaians through text messages on major communication networks.
The message read…
Parents and Teachers, please help children observe COVID-19 protocols whiles they are in school: wash hands frequently, wear face masks & observe social distancing.
This message comes barely 24 hours after the 23rd National Address by President Nana Addo. Schools remain opened though COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
The country’s active COVID-19 cases stand at 5,358 with 416 deaths and a daily average of 700 cases per statistics from the Ghana Health Service.
The message is to reenforces calls for managers and heads of pre-tertiary schools to provide leadership and direction in schools.
One disturbing observation this portal has noticed is that some do not provide nose masks whiles others do not wear them whiles escorting their wards into schools.
Parents are encouraged to advise their wards to desist from removing their nose masks. When children are educated on the dangers of unmasking, they will comply with the directive.
