Parents To Spend ¢2,500 On New SHS Prospectus (Details)

The total cost of items listed in the new SHS Prospectus, also known as National SHS Prospectus has been revealed. It will cost each parent ¢2,500. This amount is for parents whose children will be going as boarding students.

Based on the latest prices on the Ghanaian market, here is the breakdown of cost of each of the items listed on the SHS National Prospectus.

4. PHOTOCOPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE /BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE IF REQUIRED BY SCHOOL

PROSPECTUS FOR SHS BOARDING STUDENTS

1. Hard Body Suit CASE OR TRUNK – 200 cedis
2. Chop Box (Wooden/Plastic) – 180 cedis
3. Drinking Cup, 1 plastic or stainless plate and a set of cutlery – 40 cedis
4. Toiletries (1 Deodorant, 1 pack T-roll, tooth paste, tooth brush, Soap, pomade and 2 packs of sanitary pads for 4 girls) – 200 cedis
5. Decent sandals (school’s specification) – No embellishment – 70 cedis
6. A pair of leather slippers (school’s specification) – 70 cedis
7. Decent Sneakers (black or white) –80 cedis
8. 2 Pair of Socks (school’s specification) – 20 cedis
9. 1 Pyjamas/sleep wear – 100 cedis
10. Under wear (5 pants and 3 vests for girls, 3 boxer shorts or pants & 3 Singlets for boys) –140 cedis for girls and 200 cedis for boys
11. 1 Plastic Bucket with Cover and Pail – 40 cedis
12. RSV/NIV Bible/Quran and Hymn Book for Christians (School Specified) – 40 cedis
13. Pillow covered with Mackintosh – 70 cedis
14. 2 Students’ bedsheets with 2 pillow cases – Plain white – 65 cedis.
15. 1 Blanket & Sleeping cloth – Both for 130 cedis
16. A Pair of Khaki Trousers – 80 cedis
17. A Pair of White Trousers – 80 cedis
18. White dress for ladies – 80 cedis
19. 2 White Shirts – 80 cedis

One- third of SHS students to submit;

• A pair of Hand Gloves (Hard) – 25 cedis
• Liquid Soap (5 litres) – 50 cedis
• 1Kg Washing Powdered Soap – 20 cedis

Another one-third to submit these

• 1 Bleach (small size) – 15 cedis
• 1 Dust Pan – 10 cedis
• 1 Long Handle Broom  – 25 cedis
• 1 Scrubbing brush – 15 cedis

Another One third to submit these

• Standing Mop and Mop Bucket – 50 cedis
• 1 Duster – 10 cedis
• 1 Short Local Broom – 10 cedis
