Akufo-Addo Donates GH¢100,000 to Support Ga Manye ‘s Funeral
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made a generous cash donation of GH¢100,000 to support the funeral arrangements for the late Queen Mother (Ga Manye) of the Ga State, Naa Dedei Omaedru III. This compassionate gesture demonstrates the President’s sympathy and support for the bereaved royal family and the Ga State during this time of mourning.
The donation was presented on behalf of President Akufo-Addo by the former Member of Parliament of Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover. In addition to the cash contribution, boxes of assorted drinks and whisky were also provided to assist with the funeral proceedings.
During the presentation, Titus Glover conveyed the President’s condolences and the condolences of the state to the grieving royal family and the entire Ga State as they mourn the passing of the late Queen.

The funeral of the late Queen Mother of the Ga State garnered substantial attendance, drawing high-profile personalities from government, traditional leaders, and the general public. The event marked an important moment in the Ga State’s history and was a significant occasion for those in attendance.
Before the funeral, some family members had sought an interlocutory injunction to halt the funeral arrangements, but the Court ruled that it was an error, allowing the Ga Traditional Council to proceed with the burial of the Ga Manye on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

The extensive activities planned for the burial ceremony of the late Naa Dedei Omaedru III led to the Central Business District of Accra and various parts of the Greater Accra Region being virtually deserted, with few people loitering in the vicinity.
Naa Dedei Omaedru III, the Ga Manye, passed away in December 2022, and her funeral serves as an opportunity for the Ga State to pay their respects and honor her legacy.
