One of the questions asked of Confidence Preparatory BECE candidates during the mock examination were to explain the “mother serpent of corruption” label that former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu bestowed on President Akufo-Addo.
A copy of what appears to be the English Language mock examination question paper has been making the rounds on social media, causing numerous reactions.
Read the question below;
The president of the country was described as the Mother Serpent of corruption. This means that
A. his mother is a serpent
B. he fully endorses corruption
C. he behaves like the mother serpent
D. he dislikes serpents
On Monday, August 7, 2023, Adom News shared the question paper online, with the controversial question circled.
It should be noted that Martin Amidu described Akufo-Addo as corrupt in a 27-page response to the presidency’s claims against him following his resignation as Special Prosecutor in November 2020. In his explosive response to the presidency, he claimed that Akufo-Addo was “looking like the innocent flower of anti-corruption but being the mother serpent of corruption under it” while taking the presidential oath.
This damning label has stuck with the President, with opposition party officials and communicators frequently using it against this current government.
Aside from the “mother serpent of corruption” tag, another question on the exam paper addressed how corruption and difficulties make life in the governing New Patriotic Party administration unbearable for Ghanaians.
Question 6 is seen on the exam paper read;
“The massive corruption and hardship in the country is making it difficult to put body and soul together. This means that life is…,”
