The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially broken its silence on the much-anticipated 2025 promotion examinations, dropping a schedule that will have thousands of teachers hitting the books right through the Christmas festivities.
In a letter dated December 6, 2025, and signed by the Ag. Deputy Director-General (Q&A), Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, the GES confirmed that the written promotion examinations for all eligible teachers will take place in the final days of the year: Monday, December 29th and Tuesday, December 30th, 2025.
The Breakdown: When Do You Write?
The GES has split the examination into two batches based on rank. Teachers are advised to check their specific dates carefully to avoid missing this crucial career milestone.
Day 1: Monday, 29th December 2025
Who: Assistant Director II (AD II) & Principal Superintendent (PS)
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
Day 2: Tuesday, 30th December 2025
Who: Assistant Director I (AD I) & Deputy Director (DD)
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

Critical Instructions for Candidates
The stakes are high, and the GES is enforcing strict protocols. According to the release:
Be Early: All candidates must report to their designated centers no later than 8:30 AM each day.
ID is Mandatory: You will not be allowed entry without your original Ghana ID card.
Venues Pending: While the dates are set, the specific examination venues and invigilation rosters will be communicated in a subsequent release.
A “December to Remember” for Teachers
The timing of the exam has sparked immediate conversation. Scheduled just days after Christmas and hours before New Year’s Eve, eligible teachers will need to balance holiday celebrations with intense revision. The GES has called on teacher unions—GNAT, NAGRAT, and CCT—to help disseminate this information and encourage members to participate.
