2020 School Placement: BECE graduates can change schools after CSSPS self-placement – MoE

This year, BECE graduates can change schools after CSSPS self-placement when the 2020 school placement is released late January 2021.

The new feature has been added to the CSSPS self-placement module for 2020 school placement by the Ministry of Education to reduce the pressure and stress that comes with the release of the candidates Free SHS schools.

The Ministry of Education has scheduled to release the 2020 school placement in late January 2021 due to the delay in the conduct of 2020 BECE for School Candidates.

According to the Ministry of Education, when the 2020 school placements are released, a candidate who completed JHS in 2020  but was not placed can use the self-placement option.

In case the student selects a school using the CSSPS self-placement module but later wants to change it, the new system allows the student. The previous self-placement module did not permit this.

According to the Education Ministry spokesperson, Mr. Rodney Nkrumah, the new feature is to help ensure the 2020 school placement is difficulty-free.

“What we have done this time around is that after you chose the schools, we have put in a verification system along the lines of what the Electoral Commission does where you can send a text to a certain number to confirm the school that you have chosen”, he noted.

Mr. Rodney added that the self-placement module has no restrictions, so parents and candidates can always go back during the school placement period to make necessary changes.

According to him, the Ministry of Education has dealt with all technical challenges that used to confront the Computerized School Selection and Placement System.

Mr. Rodney assured that there will be no system breaches when the portal is opened to the general public and students.

The BECE which was supposed to be written in June 2020 was delayed by COVID-19. This pushed the exams and the subsequent release of the results to December 16.
