Dollar to Cedi Exchange Rates for Dec. 16th, 2024

The foreign exchange market has come alive with the dollar-to-cedi exchange rates for December 16, 2024, making headlines.

At the time of filing this report, the exchange rate for the dollar to the cedi was pegged at a selling price of GHS 17.00, GHS15.78, and GHS 15.70 by Afriex, Visa, and Aboki, respectively.

While the Bank of Ghana’s interbank selling rate, based on the average interbank rates of December 13, 2024, stood at GHS 14.75, commercial banks are quoting rates higher than the BoG.

In the case of Stanbic Bank, the buying and selling prices quoted were GHS14.50 and GHS14.90, respectively.
Fidelity Bank’s rates were pegged at GHS 14.45 and GHS 14.90, respectively, while Access Bank quoted a buying price of GHS 14.52 and a selling price of GHS 14.87.

Online money transfer service providers such as WorldRemit, Remitly, Wise, Taptap Send, Sendwave, Western Union, and PayAngel quoted only their buying prices. This could indicate unstable and upward fluctuations in the selling prices for the dollar quoted by these service providers.

Forex bureaus continue to offer better dollar-to-cedi exchange rates for clients who want to transact in the market, with the lowest buying and selling prices being GHS15.20 and GHS15.70, respectively.

Binance which is a reliable P2P service providing is selling a dollar at GHS15.77 and buying at GHS15.81. A check for the exchange rate for today  on Google shows an average rate of $1 going for GHS14.66.
