Teachers Suffer Heartbreak As GES 2026 Teacher Recruitment Portal Faces Challenges With Over 40,000 Expected to Be Unsuccessful

Following the release of the GES 2026 Teacher Recruitment postings, applicants rushed to the official portal to know their fate. However, bottlenecks associated with checking the application status have made it difficult for many educators, leading to increased anxiety and uncertainty.

Most applicants’ hearts will be broken today since the government is recruiting only about 7,000 applicants out of the over 50,000 that applied for recruitment.

According to the official release dated 24th July, 2026, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, applicant status updates will become available today at the following scheduled times:

  • Pre-secondary (Early Childhood and Primary): Available at 5:00 PM

  • Secondary (Junior High and Senior High): Available at 9:00 PM

Reliable information from educators who have attempted to check their GES 2026 Teacher Recruitment postings revealed the following challenges:

  • The payment process for buying a valid voucher to check the postings is not working as expected, and most educators are unable to complete the process to procure the code for accessing their recruitment.

  • In addition to the above, others who successfully purchased the recruitment checking voucher have not received the SMS containing the code, causing more panic and doubt among teachers.

  • The GES must recognize that over 50,000 educators applied for the positions and will need vouchers to check their status; such an inefficient system should not have arisen on this occasion.

  • High traffic to the site has compounded the issue, as over 50,000 educators try to access slightly more than 7,000 available vacancies.

  • Teachers are calling on the authorities to inspect the GES 2026 Teacher Recruitment postings portal and resolve these technical challenges to provide a smooth status-checking experience.

What the above means is that, if the GES does not resolve the issues in time, the Secondary (Junior High and Senior High) applicants whose results will be available from will face more challenges accessing their portal.

In all, a little over 7,000 teachers are expected to get recruited; however, some of these recruited staff are likely to be politically affiliated with the ruling party, which in itself will also lead to more applications not being considered.
