Ghana Education Service (GES) Announces 2023/2024 Study Leave with Pay Posting Form
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the opening of the 2023/2024 Study Leave with Pay (SLP) posting form for eligible teachers. The form is available online at https://gespromotions.gov.gh.
To be eligible for SLP, teachers must have served for at least three years and have been recommended by their immediate supervisors. They must also have good conduct and performance records.
The application deadline is August 21, 2023.
In a related development, GES has announced the approval of study leave with pay subjects for the 2022 academic year. The subjects include:
- Master of Education (MEd)
- Master of Arts (MA)
- Master of Science (MSc)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Here are some of the key conditions for grant of study leave with pay:
- The minimum number of years to serve before qualifying for the grant of study leave with pay is three years of satisfactory service.
- An applicant must have served in a designated area for two years.
- Non-professional graduate teachers should have served at least one year before being eligible for any of the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) courses.
- Staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) returning from secondment must serve a minimum of two years before they become eligible for study leave with pay.
- Staff of the Service who vacate, leave the service and are re-appointed /re-engaged must serve a minimum of five years before being eligible for study leave with pay.
