The Pre-Tertiary Education Unions have demanded the removal of all retired staff of the education service who are still at the post on contract to be asked to proceed on their compulsory retirement.
This request was contained in a press statement, which was in reaction to the reappointment of Mr. Anthony Boateng as Deputy Director General (MS) on contract. The unions have given the GES and MoE up to September 30th to compel all those who have obtained the retirement age to proceed on leave.
According to the unions, members of the unions will take directives from such persons should they remain at post after September 30th.
“If by 30th September 2022 such persons are still at post, we call on our members to disregard directives issued by these persons,” The press statement said
They also suggested that the positions held by those who have reached their retirement age should be given to those who are next in line.
“We also call on the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service to direct all retired persons in the Ghana Education Service to hand over immediately to the next in line and proceed with their compulsory retirement.” The leadership of the Pre-Tertiary Education Unions stated in their press release.
