GES Seeks Clearance for ‘Pending’ Teacher Recruitment

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated processes aimed at obtaining financial clearance to recruit graduates marked as “pending for consideration.”

During the last prolonged and overly delayed recruitment process, the GES placed the inscription “pending for consideration” on the accounts of several educators who applied for graduate recruitment without any further updates. This status has remained on the accounts and applications of such teachers until now.

The affected teachers have expressed their frustration at the lack of communication from the GES up to this point.

The latest development provides a clearer update on the state of affairs as the GES has commenced the recruitment process. This move is aimed at reducing tension within the teaching fraternity and possibly gaining political favour.

It is evident that the GES did not have financial clearance to recruit graduate teachers when it commenced the process, which contributed to the delays in releasing the postings of the qualified applicants.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Eric Nkansah, Director-General of GES, urged teachers with the “pending for consideration” status on their applications to remain patient while the service seeks financial clearance to facilitate their recruitment.

The GES’s reassurance, which some may consider overdue, was shared on Facebook during an interaction on January 1, 2025. Dr. Nkansah responded to an applicant’s inquiry about their pending recruitment status.

Comment from Mr. Appioz Man: Please, Director, do well to recruit those pending for consideration before you leave office. We wish you well for your innovative ideas in your administration.

“Kindly be patient as we secure clearance to recruit applicants pending for consideration. Thank you.”

The above was the response given to Mr. Appioz Man, who asked the question. He acknowledged the fact that the Director-General was likely to leave the post following the victory of the NDC in the December 7th election.

Graduate teachers with “pending for consideration” are not likely to be recruited until the next government takes over. The change of government is likely to delay the recruitment process and may even nullify the graduates marked as “pending for consideration” in the system. Should that happen, they will have to apply all over again.
