Ghana Police arrests 26 persons for brandishing toy guns
Following the brandishing of toy guns in Kumasi by some youth, the Ghana Police has arrested 26 persons suspected of being part of the toy gun brandishing syndicate.
A viral video captured in a market square in Kumasi and shared on social media showed two groups of young men meeting at an intersection in the market, exchanging toy gunshots, and pointing the guns at each other.
The public condemned the act and called on the youth to desist from such behavior. However, some of the young men involved defended their actions, stating that the supposed game was their form of entertainment.
According to a report released by the Ghana Police and sighted by Ghana Education News, 26 suspects have been apprehended in a police swoop. The police further stated that those arrested are assisting with investigations. “The suspects are currently assisting with investigations and will be put before the court to face justice,” the statement read.

Ghana Police Arrest 26 Persons for Brandishing and Indiscriminate Firing of Toy Guns in a Public Place
The Ghana Police have arrested 26 persons for brandishing and indiscriminately firing toy guns in a public place.
The suspects are currently assisting with investigations and will be put before the court to face justice.
Meanwhile, a quantity of toy guns has been retrieved from the suspects as part of the ongoing investigation into the menace.

Special police operations are underway to arrest other persons involved in this act, which is becoming a trend in some parts of the country.
We hereby caution the youth to desist from such behavior as it constitutes the offense of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29), among others.
