Global Unemployment Rates: Nigeria Tops at 33.3%, Qatar at 1%
Unemployment remains one of the major national security breaches that is taken for granted globally with African countries leading with high levels of unemployment.
Youth unemployment has become a major unsolved challenge in many countries with less effort from governments towards eradicating the canker.
Global Unemployment rates by country show that Nigeria is topping with 33.3% while Qatar is 1%.
Following Nigeria closely was South Africa (32.9%), Bosnia (29.03%), Iraq (15.55%), Afghanistan (13.3%), Spain (13.26%), and Greece (10.8%).

Limited economic growth and development lead to insufficient job creation opportunities. in Africa and many parts of the world. Governments and political leaders have failed sometimes to win the fight against unemployment.
- Inadequate access to quality education and skills training contributes to a lack of qualified workforce. Education is key to unlocking unemployment however, this has not been the case in many parts of the globe especially in Africa.
- Political instability and conflicts disrupt economic activities and discourage investments, resulting in job losses.
- Poor infrastructure and limited connectivity hinder business growth and job creation.
- Insufficient foreign direct investment limits job opportunities and economic expansion.
- Demographic challenges, such as a rapidly growing population, put pressure on the labour market.
- Ineffective labour market policies and regulations create barriers to job creation and hinder entrepreneurship.
- Inequality and social disparities limit access to job opportunities for marginalized populations.
- Lack of diversification in the economy, with overreliance on a few sectors, increases vulnerability to economic shocks and job losses.
- Informal sector dominance and a lack of formal employment opportunities contribute to high unemployment rates.
