Top 10 countries by gold production: China leads, Ghana 7th in 2023
No African country can boast as the world’s leading gold producer as of July 3rd, 2023. Looking at the data for the top 10 countries by gold production, no African country also made it to the top five.
China leads global gold production with 355 metric tons, followed by Australia’s 315 metric tons. Using the data provided Ghana is currently Africa’s leading gold producer with 130 metric tons followed by South Africa with 120 metric tons.
