The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to invite applications for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship for Foreign Students, tenable in Brunei Darussalam for the 2025/2026 academic session. The scholarship provides the opportunity to pursue studies at the Diploma, Undergraduate Degree, and Postgraduate Master’s Degree levels at the following institutions in Brunei:

• Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
• Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
• Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
• Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)
• Politeknik Brunei (PB)

Application Deadline:
The closing date for scholarship applications is 15 February 2025.

Required Documents:
Applicants must upload the following documents with their application:

1. Identification cards
2. Certified true copies of academic qualifications and other supporting documents (certificates, transcripts, testimonials)
3. Certified English translations of any non-English documents
4. Certified true copies of Birth Certificate and Passport
5. References and recommendations from referees (C1 and C2)

Application Process:

An applicant may be required to appear for an interview and may need to take a written examination to assess proficiency in English, Malay, or Arabic (where applicable).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reserves the right to reject any applications. Decisions regarding the selection of candidates are final, and inquiries related to the decision will not be entertained.
General Terms and Conditions:

3.1 Scholarship Benefits:
The scholarship recipient will be entitled to the following benefits:

1. Exemption from paying tuition fees, including acceptance, examination, registration, and orientation fees.
2. An economy class air-ticket to Brunei Darussalam from the recipient’s country of origin or domicile before the course starts, and an economy class air-ticket from Brunei Darussalam to the recipient’s country upon completion.
3. Monthly personal allowance of BND $500.00.
4. Monthly meals allowance of BND $150.00.
5. Annual book allowance of BND $600.00.
6. Accommodation at the university/polytechnic’s residential college.
7. Baggage allowance for shipping personal effects upon completion of the program:
8. BND $250.00 for ASEAN countries.
9. BND $500.00 for countries outside ASEAN.
10. Comprehensive insurance coverage for the scholarship duration. Additional insurance is encouraged before travel and for the full scholarship period at the recipient’s own cost.

3.2 Scholarship Restrictions:

The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with any other scholarship, fellowship, grant, or loan without prior approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The scholarship may be revoked if the recipient holds another scholarship without approval.

3.3 Family and Dependents:

The scholarship recipient is not encouraged to bring family members. No allowance will be provided for a spouse or children, and accommodation will not be provided for accompanying family members.

3.4 Employment Restrictions:

The recipient is not permitted to undertake paid employment or serve on the staff of any foreign representative mission in Brunei Darussalam during the scholarship period.
3.5 Compliance with Rules and Regulations:

The scholarship recipient must:

Conform to all rules and regulations governing the scholarship.
Adhere to the rules of their university/polytechnic.
Respect the customs, culture, and official religion of Brunei Darussalam.
Follow all laws and regulations of Brunei Darussalam.
Refrain from engaging in political activities.
Undergo health screening in Brunei Darussalam if deemed necessary by the Ministry.
3.6 Completion of the Program:

Upon completion of the program, the recipient is required to leave Brunei Darussalam immediately.

Please follow the following step by step application procedure to apply for Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship:

1. To apply, please fill in the online Application Form at the following link – BDGS Application Form.
2. Documents to be uploaded in the application form:
   • Certified true copies of academic qualifications and other supporting documents (i.e. certificates, testimonials, transcripts).
   • ​Certified English translations of supporting documents must be submitted for documents that are not in English.
   • ​Certified true copies of Birth Certificate and Passport.
   • ​References and recommendations from referees. (C1 and C2)
3. Applicants applying to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) must also complete an online application through https://apply.ubd.edu.bn/orbeon/uis-welcome/
4. Applicants applying to Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) must also complete an online application through https://apply.utb.edu.bn/
5. ​An applicant may be required to appear for an interview at such place(s) as may be determined by the institutions offering the programmes, and to sit a written examination to assess the applicant’s proficiency in the English/ Malay/ Arabic Language (where applicable).
6. The Government of Brunei Darussalam reserves the right to reject any applications. The decision on the selection of candidates is final. Any disputes or enquiries pertaining to the decision made will not be entertained.
