Holidays And School Vacation Dates In September

Let’s take a look at the list of all holidays in the month of September, 2023. We will also be looking at the various vacation dates and reopening dates for both basic schools and Senior high schools in Ghana.

HOLIDAYS IN GHANA FOR SEPTEMBER, 2023

There is only one holiday in the month of September. 21st September, 2023 is a holiday in Ghana. This marks the birthday of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkumah. This is known as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day.

The day is used to commemorate the life and legacy of Ghana’s first Prime Minister and President, Kwame Nkrumah. The day celebrates Nkrumah’s many contributions to the country, including his leadership in the fight for independence from Britain

VACATION DATES FOR BASIC SCHOOLS AND SHS IN SEPTEMBER

Basic Schools(KG To JHS)

Basic Schools(KG To JHS) will be going on vacation on 14th September, 2023. This will be the end of the 2022/2023 academic year. The academic year began on 10th January, 2023 and expected to end on 14th September, 2023. The next academic year is expected to begin in January(based on last year’s calendar)

SHS(Single Track)

Senior High Schools that run single track will be going on vacation on 15th September, 2023. SHS 2 students in this category have already ended their academic year. SHS 1 will be joining them on vacation on 15th September, 2023.

WASSCE 2023: Food and Nutrition Projected Questions

SHS(Double Track Schools)

Double Track Schools will also have some vacations in the month of September. SHS 3 Students, who are currently writing their WASSCE will bring an end of their exams this month.

Aside from this, there will be no vacation for students double track schools. SHS 1 students, who are currently on break will be reopening on 18th September, 2023.

WHAT ABOUT TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

Most tertiary institutions are currently on vacation. They have ended the 2022/2023 academic year. Reopening dates for most institutions is in January, 2024.
