JUST IN: WAEC To Serialize Some Subjects In 2023 WASSCE
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has confirmed that some selected questions in the 2023 West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be serialized.
According to the council, the move is intended to reduce exam malpractice. Because of the serialization process, all candidates in the same hall must receive the same question, but with different question numbers.
In an address to the media, the Council’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, stated that the selected subjects will be serialized because they cannot be compromised.
“Serialization is not anything that is landing from space. Besides nothing has changed about the structure of the questions. It is just that we have serialized some of them. It is our trade secret, and we want to maintain that. We are not unduly punishing anybody, it is the same question just that there is some serialization. There are some of these papers that are high stake and so for those high stake papers we would want to serialize them.”
“Secondly it is a very expensive venture to get into, it is time-consuming and all of that. And so we concentrate more on the high stake papers and then there are a few of them that we consider as low risk, and so we don’t serialize those ones,” he said.
This year’s WASSCE is expected to attract 447,204 candidates from 975 schools.
The 2023 WASSCE is currently underway, practical begins first for some courses and then writing of the theory begins.
Social Studies is scheduled on Monday the 28th of August 2023 followed by the other. Want to access the full 2023 WASSCE time table? CLICK HERE!
Candidates are advised to know that, the WASSCE is like their normal internal examination but the only difference is that, the questions are being set for all senior high schools in Ghana. They should not panic or fear, rather build and maintain their confidence throughout.
