Kan-Dapaah ‘fails’ to serve Barker-Vormawor in court
The Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, has accused Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a lead convenor of the #FixtheCountry Movement, of allegedly evading bailiffs who were meant to serve him court documents regarding a GH¢10 million defamation suit.
On October 19, 2023, Kan-Dapaah initiated a defamation lawsuit against Oliver Barker-Vormawor in response to claims made by the #FixtheCountry convenor. Barker-Vormawor alleged that the National Security Minister offered him a bribe of one million dollars ($1,000,000) to halt the #FixTheCountry demonstrations against the government.
Kan-Dapaah has reportedly expressed his intention to apply to the High Court for an order allowing substituted service. This would enable court documents to be served on Barker-Vormawor via an alternative method, as the minister claims that the former has been evading the bailiffs who are meant to deliver the court documents to him.
In response, Barker-Vormawor refuted the minister’s claim of evading bailiffs in a series of posts shared on social media.
On Friday, Barker-Vormawor announced on social media that he was at the court, awaiting the arrival of the bailiffs to serve him the documents. He stated that he had been waiting at the High Court where the minister had indicated he would file the request for substituted service.

“For the past 2 hours, I have been sitting in the Court Kan Dapaah advertised that he was coming to for a substituted order to serve me today. Since Kan Dapaah said he can’t find me, I am here to find him. Guess what. Not a single soul in sight. Judge has been waiting since 9 a.m. Me too, I am waiting. Today, they will serve me Bayormis!” he wrote.
A few hours later, Barker-Vormawor shared another post, revealing that he was leaving the court premises and still had not been served with the court documents. He expressed his gratitude for the support he had received, highlighting the importance of community in challenging times.
