KNUST Revokes Thousands of 2025/2026 Admissions After System Glitch
KNUST Withdraws Admissions After System Glitch. Thousands of students were left in shock as their smiles have been curtailed by the latest update from the university.
In a dramatic development that has sent shockwaves across the student community, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has revoked hundreds of undergraduate admission offers that were issued earlier today due to a major technical glitch in its admissions system.
Across social media platforms and WhatsApp groups, anxious applicants had been celebrating after receiving congratulatory messages and screenshots showing they had been offered programmes like BSc Forest Resources Technology (WASSCE/SSSCE Regular) and others. One image widely circulated showed the words “Congratulations! You have been offered admission to the following…” — triggering excitement among parents and students alike.
However, the joy was short-lived.
In a statement released on the university’s official portal just hours later, KNUST confirmed that the admissions messages were sent in error and do not represent valid offers of placement for the 2025/2026 academic year. The university explained that a system malfunction erroneously processed applications and transmitted admission status notifications to applicants who were not officially accepted.
The statement urged all affected applicants to ignore the messages and check only the official admissions portal for accurate updates. KNUST has promised to investigate the glitch and ensure that authentic admission lists are published in due course.

This is heart-breaking,” wrote one disappointed applicant on Facebook. Another student shared on Twitter, “That moment when your whole future is excited and then KNUST decides to play with our emotions. This is unfair!”
Some parents expressed frustration over the emotional toll of the mistake, saying the university should have verified its systems before sending out messages. Others are calling for immediate transparency and compensation for the panic and confusion caused.

Across TikTok and Instagram, videos under hashtags like #KNUSTAdmissionGlitch and #KNUSTMistake are trending, with students posting clips of their revoked offers and their reactions to the news. Many are demanding answers from the university administration and asking for timelines on when the correct lists will be released.
Education advocates have also weighed in, urging KNUST to improve its digital infrastructure and communication channels. “Errors in admission processing damage trust and place undue stress on applicants who have worked tirelessly to make it to tertiary institutions,” one commentator wrote.
KNUST has advised all applicants to monitor the official admissions site regularly for updates and not to rely on unofficial messages circulating online. Students are strongly urged to visit https://admissions.knust.edu.gh for the most accurate and verified information on their admission status.
As the controversy unfolds, thousands of young applicants remain in a state of uncertainty, hoping that genuine admissions lists will be published soon and that the glitch will not derail their academic dreams.
Stay tuned for updates as this story develops and more information becomes available from KNUST.
