MTN Ghana has taken the Seriousness it attaches to every Momo account a notch higher by giving three new tips to help protect the wallets of customers.
Momo scammers are known for sending fake Momo messages via text to customers of MTN and also calling unsuspecting clients all in an attempt to defraud them.
Report such calls, fake text messages relating to Momo, and any other related acts to MTN. Remember that every report helps make mobile money wallets safer.

Momo subscribers kindly note that
1. MTN officials will only call you with the official line 0244300000.
2. Customers are to avoid discussing their wallet or any personal details with strangers.
3. Hang up and report the number and the name of the business to mmfraudteam.GH@mtn.com
You can also send an SMS to 1515 or Ussd *170#. When in doubt call 100.
The decision by the government to block unregistered SIM cards will go a long way to weed out criminals to engage in or more Momo Fraud in the country since lots of these criminals do not have accounts registered in their name.
