Education Minister Appointment: Dr Adutwum’s nomination gives teachers hope

Education Minister appointment has fallen on the shoulders of Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. His appointment has been greeted with excitement in the teachers’ fraternity. Some teachers have attributed the outgoing Minister of Education, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempah to an “Agorkoli” kind of leadership.
The Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency has brought a lot of commendation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Many see the choice as the best and long overdue.
Before his appointment to the ministerial position, he served as the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum however held this post from March 2017 to December 2020 when Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempah was the Minister of Education.
Teachers in Ghana have seen and rated the performance of Dr. Adutwum in the last four years. They hold the view that he brings hope to the education sector and the teaching fraternity in Ghana.

“Osei Yaw Adutwum will be the new Minister of Education. There will be hope again”, a teacher stated on social media after the MPs name popped up in the list of ministers.
Comparing the former Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, teachers have argued that the latter is a professional teacher and will understand them than his predecessor
