The leadership of the National Council of Private School Teachers (N-COPST) has disclosed that Non-professional teachers in Ghana to lose their jobs by 2026.

According to the Executive Director of the National Council of Private School Teachers (N-COPST), Mr Ackon James, the non-Professional Teachers who are licensed are advised to further education to acquire a Degree in Education to keep them in the teaching profession.
The N-COPST Director stated that provisions have been made for all Non-Professional Teachers who have registered for the temporary license (Emergency Permit) to further their education with a flexible payment plan that will help them complete a 4-year degree program at the University.
The leadership furthered that provisions have been made for Teachers who do not qualify for temporary licenses. These are teachers who have NNTTC, NVTI, Montessori, A&O Level, BECE, and JSS certificates
Teachers who refused to register for the license will face the law. Teachers are advised to get a copy of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (1023) and read Section 79, under Employment of unregistered teachers through to Section 81, under offense and Penalties
Mr. James Ackon whiles speaking on the above used the occasion to congratulate all private school owners who have paid for their teacher’s license and encouraged more schools to do the same since they (the schools) are benefiting from the hard work of these teachers.
He commended the school owners of Eagle Eye Universal Academy and E-Complex International School, all in Obuasi for paying the license fee for their teachers
According to the Executive Director of N-COPST, school owners are to note that, they also play a vital role in the licensing of their teachers. In the Education Act, school owners are advised to read Section 78, subsection 1&2 under Employment of Registered Teachers to see for themselves the need to register their teachers’ license
Teachers are advised to do their part by registering for the license. Teachers can register for their license and leave the payment of the license fee for your school to decide on.
