SHSs hit by desk shortage as students stand to learn is the latest update on Free SHS from the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
Public Second Cycle Schools have been hit by the shortage of mono desks in the Asuogyaman District, located in the Eastern Region.
The situation has compelled students to stand throughout lessons while students scramble for the available desks.
According to the 3News which broke the news, students are now using tables and benches from the school’s dining hall, which is also not enough to meet the furniture needs of the schools.
The district’s headmasters have submitted requests to the Ghana Education Service, but just a few desks have been delivered to certain schools, while others are still waiting.

The paucity of desks at these institutions has been exacerbated by the entrance of first-year pupils.
In a related development, SHSs hit by desk shortage are beginning to get support as the MP has commenced the distribution of some 200 mono desks to the affected Senior High Schools. Some of the schools that have received some of this furniture to deal with the shortage are Adjena and Boso Senior Secondary Technical School.

“I began the distribution of mono desks to some selected schools in my constituency to enhance teaching and learning. I managed to reach Adjena and Boso secondary technical schools. The furniture deficit is pathetic. Let’s all do our bit to help ease the pressure, ” the MP said.
