WAEC releases 2024 WASSCE withheld results and the final hash verdict on over 5000 candidates in a press release by the council dated 7th January 2025.
The council also outlined the procedures for dealing with withheld results as follows.
The council’s procedures for dealing with withheld results are as follows.
- The Council writes to all Heads of Schools affected by these actions, after which it carries out a proper scrutiny of these candidates.
- After the scrutiny, officers meet the candidates who are given a fair hearing on the exact circumstances that led to the alleged malpractice in respect of which the affected candidates have been invited.
- The candidates are then invited to write statements in response to the allegations against them. They are neither coerced nor intimidated into writing the statement as is being alleged by some parents.
According to WAEC, it arrived at its final decisions after an extensive investigation into suspected and alleged examination irregularities. The council further disclosed that several irregularities were committed by the students. Some of these were photocopied responses to candidates and cases of invigilators assisting candidates directly, among others.
