2023 school placement highest in enrollment so far – Education Minister
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, has intimated that the 2023 school placement is the greatest thus far. The 2023 school placement highest in enrollment so far statement comes after SHS1 students reported to school on December 4th.
The MoE acknowledged that the School Placement System (SPS) has had significant obstacles; yet, the 2023 school year saw the biggest enrollment in the CSSPSs history.
He claimed that the Ministry was able to place 95 percent of 2023 Junior High School graduates in various senior high schools (SHSs) around the country.
Dr. Adutwum told members of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs in Kumasi that 81 percent of students were automatically put in their preferred institutions, with 19 percent relying on self-placement.
The purpose of the gathering was for him to report to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs General gathering on his achievements as sector minister.
Representatives of the Kumasi Traditional Council, representatives of the Regional House of Chiefs, and the Asantehene himself were present at the event.
According to the Education Minister, enrollment this year is the largest recorded since the implementation of the placement system.
He used the occasion to address numerous educational issues, including the difficulties with the 2023 SHS placement.
He acknowledged the system’s problems but claimed that 95 percent of JHS graduates were successfully placed in other schools.
“We have increased student placement.” Over the years, approximately 30% of students have not attended school. We had 81% of pupils automatically placed in schools this year, with roughly 19% remaining.”
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to education in the country.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, encouraged chiefs to check educational structures and progress in their areas.
