2024 collective agreement update for teachers released by Teacher Unions

An update on the 2024 collective agreement for teachers has been released by teacher unions at the pre-tertiary education level. The leaders of the various unions together have provided important updates on the 2024 collective agreement for teachers as part of efforts to keep members up to speed with new developments.
Mr. Thomas T. Musah, who is the current General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), along with Eric Agbe-Carbonu, President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and King Ali Awudu, President of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers-Ghana (CCT-GH), provided the update on the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Conditions of Service).
2024 collective agreement update 1:
The current Collective Bargaining Agreement (Conditions of Service) expired at the end of August 2023.

The Pre-Tertiary Education Workers Unions have taken steps to negotiate an updated and comprehensive agreement for the many hard-working teachers in Ghana.

The new updated and comprehensive agreement, if successful, will help safeguard the best interests of teachers, according to the union leaders.

They have indicated their commitment to not only protecting the interests of teachers and members of the unions but also to working together to safeguard and protect their collective interests throughout the negotiation process.
Speaking on the ongoing negotiation to update and improve the collective agreement, Thomas T. Musah, the GNAT General Secretary, furthered that the issues bothering teachers and members of the various unions will take centre stage in their bargaining for better conditions of service for members.

“We want every teacher to rest assured that their concerns and needs are at the forefront of our negotiations. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the new Conditions of Service reflect the dedication and hard work of our educators,” Thomas T. Musah stated.
The three union leaders are confident that by the end of February 2024, fair and deserving working conditions will be in place.
Members of the three unions will be kept up to date with new developments as the negotiations progress.
