64th Independence Parade Suspended-GES, Gov’t
The government of Ghana has suspended the 64th Independence Day Anniversary Parade. Subsequently, the Ghana Education Service (GES) acting on a letter from the Office of Chief of Staff has suspended the celebration.
The decision of the government to call off the celebration is due to the prevalence rate of COVID-19 cases in the country.
There has been no indication as to whether the 6th March 2021 which falls on Saturday will be declared a public holiday on Monday 8th January 2021.

The 64th Independence Parade suspended would have marked Ghana’s 64th celebration after independence. This will be the first time the celebration will not be observed at the national, regional, and district levels across the country.
