Trouble As New GES Director-General, Dr. Eric Nkansah Rejected By NAGRAT; Shocking Details Drop

Dr. Eric Nkansah Rejected By NAGRAT
Dr. Eric Nkansah’s appointment as the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service has been turned down by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) (GES).
The association says that the new person in charge is a banker who has never taught before. So, they don’t like the fact that he was chosen.
At a press conference in Accra on Thursday, October 20, the President of NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Carbonou, said that teachers were hoping that someone with experience in education would be chosen so that they could use their knowledge.
He said that this appointment shows that Ghana doesn’t have enough qualified teachers to run its schools.
Mr. Carbonou said that they are upset and surprised that Dr. Nkansah was chosen.

He said, “What bothered and surprised us all was that the Ghana Education Service had a new Director General.
“The President of the country has the power to choose the Director General of GES. Unfortunately, contrary to what the teacher unions said, we will want a Director General who is a professional teacher who has been through the mill and can use his knowledge, skills, and influence to help teachers and people who are not teachers in the GES.
“Contrary to what you said, the man who was hired yesterday is not a teacher. He is a banking officer who worked as a special assistant in the Minister’s office and has now been named DG of the GES. We are not happy about this change. It seems as if we don’t have professionals and well-educated people who have been through the mill in education in this country to run education.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo chose Dr. Eric Nkansah to be the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Wednesday. Wednesday, October 19, 2022, was the first day of the new job.
“This is a formal way for me to congratulate you on your new job. “Please let me know if you will accept this appointment or not within 14 days of receiving this letter,” said a statement from Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Executive Secretary to the President.
Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa was fired from his job just one day before this appointment.
A letter sent to the Office of the President on Monday, October 17, 2022, from the Ministry of Education said that Prof. Opoku-skills Amankwa’s knowledge were no longer needed because of urgent situations.
“Therefore, the President of the Republic has ordered that your secondment end immediately, and you are to return to your job at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.”
