A 12-year-old boy, who attends Presbyterian Boys’ SHS (Presec Legon), gained attention on the internet for his remarkable academic achievement despite his young age and his ambitious goal of becoming a surgeon.
His name is Nana Frimpong, who attended Nkoranza D/A and graduated in 2022.

Despite attending a government basic school in Nkoranza rather than more prestigious institutions, Nana Frimpong, at just 12 years old, is already a first-year student at the renowned Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, Presec, where he is studying science.

Having scored an impressive aggregate of 7 in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at Nkoranza D/A, Nana secured admission to study science at Presec, a notable accomplishment given his age and educational background.

In other news, the 2023 BECE results is expected to be released this month. 2023 BECE graduates, who will soon be SHS 1 students will report to school next month (December). It is expected that the BECE results will be out this month.
According to the 2023/2024 academic calendar, SHS 1 students will report to school on 4th December, 2023. This is a month from now. This reporting date is for both double(transitional) and single track schools. Students will be in school from 4th December, 2023 to 5 March, 2024 and 15th March, 2024 for double and single track schools respectively.

According to the 2023/2024 academic calendar, there is going to be a Christmas break from 21st December, 2023 to 2nd January, 2024 for all schools and at all levels.
The Ghana Education Service is doing everything possible to restore the old academic calendar. The old or original academic calendar for basic schools has been restored. However senior high school old academic calendar is yet to be restored.
