PRINCOF postpones CoE reopening date for 2024/25 until further notice; however, students have reacted to the new and expressed its implications them.
The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) has postponed the reopening date for Level 100, 200, and 300 students in various government Colleges of Education for the 2024/2025 academic year.
In a letter sighted by GhanaEducation.org, the Principals of the Colleges of Education said the reopening date has been rescheduled from Monday, November 18, 2024, to Monday, January 13, 2025.
The decision, communicated in a letter to all Principals, cites unforeseen circumstances as the reason for the 2024/2025 academic year reopening day postponement.

The Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education following the new reopening date indicated that a revised academic calendar will be communicated soon to the colleges, outlining the new academic schedule.
In other news, the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) says it has resolved an increase in the teacher trainees allowance from GHC400.00 to GHC800.00 to alleviate the financial challenges faced by trainees.

The allowance increase was discussed at the 28th General Assembly of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana held under the theme “Prioritising Long-term Initiatives in Colleges of Education and Ridging Policy with Practice: The Role of Stakeholders.”
In a related development, KNUST has also announced the postponement of the start of the 2024-2025 academic year for all level 100 students just as University of Cape Coast has done. Both institutions are yet to indicate their new reopening dates.
