Check Out The Main Reason Why Ghana Education Service Shifted the Public Basic Schools Vacation Date To 16th December 2022.
Students in all the public basic schools were eager to for Christmas Vacation on Thursday, 15th December 2022. All the eagerness and readiness on the side of the pupils to go home did not materialize on the exact date that they anticipated, or they were told previously to be their vacation date.
A new statement was released from the Ghana Education Service GES, stipulating clearly why there is a need to postpone the official vacation date from Thursday, 15th December 2022 to Friday, 16th December 2022.
The main reason from the Ghana Education Service was very simple. Due to the introduction of the new curriculum, a new structure for national assessment for primary (2) and Primary (4) pupils was implemented. This assessment is known as the National standardize test.
This assessment is strategic and hence those in the basic four alone are to partake in test or examination. Pupils at that stage will be assessed to determine their progress. On the need to the shift of vacation date, the national standardize test delayed and it will be taken on Friday 16th December 2022.
It will be a good idea that all the students who are not taking part in the exams to wait and officially end the academic term together on Friday, 16th December 2022. This is the main reason why Ghana Education Service shifted the vacation date from Thursday, 15th December 2022 to 16th December 2022 Friday.
Below is the official communique from Ghana Education Service.
“Vacation date for public basic schools – Third Term, 2022 Academic Year. Re-opening date for public Basic Schools – First Term, 2023 Academic Year.
Management of Ghana Education Service wishes to inform you that, the Vacation date for public basic schools for the third (3) has been shifted to Friday 16th December 2022.
This is to enable primary four (P4) pupils to write the National standardized test on Friday, 16th December 2022.
The reopening date for the first term of the next academic year is 10th January 2022.
By this letter, regional directors are kindly requested to communicate this information to the Metro / Municipals and District directors of education to inform all heads of the Basic schools to take note and act accordingly.
Counting on your usual co-operation.
Thank You”. – From the office of the Ghana Education Service signed by the Director of Schools and instructions division Patty E. Assan (Mrs
