The Colleges of Education Non-teaching staff have begun their strike action as a result of what they described as unfair treatment of members
begin Strike Action. The indefinite strike which took effect Monday, April 11, 2022 aims at driving home their demands. The immediate effect of the strike action is that, students in the 46 colleges of education are being asked by school authorities to pay for the services of casual kitchen workers to cook meals for the students who are still on campus.
The strike action by the non-teaching staff of the 46 colleges is a result of the government failing to pay their allowances and other issues that relate to the placing of employees on the wrong scale as staff.
The College of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, served notices of an indefinite strike, but they received the invitation for a meeting on Friday, April 8, 2022.
They are demanding the following:
1. Wrong placement of First Degree Holders
2. Non-payment of migration arrears
3. Exclusion of payment of Generic Allowances
4. Partial payment of Office Holding Allowances
5. Non-payment of Interim Market Premium Arrears
The 46 Colleges of Education have over 3000 non-teaching staff across the 16 regions who have all laid down their tools to press home their demands.
