Ghana Education Service released a new academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year for all schools earlier this year. This article discusses the confirmed first-term vacation date for all basic schools in Ghana.
The Ghana Education Service is the one that has full control of the educative affairs, the GES provides a yearly academic calendar to guide primary and secondary schools within an academic year.
The GES provided an academic calendar for 2023 with the dates when schools open for each of the three academic terms, dates they close for holidays, and dates candidates sit for their BECE and WASSCE.
According to the official school calendar for 2023, all basic schools are set to close on 24th March 2023 through to 2nd April 2023.

But the question whether Public Basic Schools will write the end-of-term examination is yet to be answered. The GES over the years has directed schools not to charge any form of fees including examination fees.
Public schools have however started preparing for the end-of-term examination and are charging some minimal fees to finance the end-of-term examination.
