Free SHSs School Uniform Suppliers Owed Three Years’ Suppliers, Threaten to Picket
Suppliers of Free SHS uniforms to public Secondary schools have given the government up to 28th July to pay all the money owned for uniforms supplied to the government.
Following the introduction of the Free SHS policy by the Nana Addo-led government in 2017, the government began to supply school uniforms and other clothing for all SHS students in public Senior High Schools in Ghana.
However, the government has failed to pay for uniforms supplied for the last three years, which has not only locked up the capital of suppliers but also increased the interest on loans and caused many of such suppliers to default in the payment to their creditors.
According to information available to Ghanaeducation.org, some suppliers can no longer supply the government nor take care of their households as a result of the government’s failure to pay them.
According to the aggrieve suppliers of uniforms to public SHSs in Ghana, they will also increase the price of uniforms after the government has settled outstanding debts.
They have furthered that, the current prices per uniform and books they supply to the government have been stagnant since 2016 even though the cost of production of these logistics supplied to the government has gone up.
They disclosed that they will increase the price of the uniforms and books they supply to the government after the government has paid all outstanding debts.

The aggrieved suppliers have given the government up to 28th July to settle the debts owed them, or else they will begin to picket at government offices and offices of government agencies in charge of such logistics.
This new revelation by the aggrieved SHS uniform suppliers has opened up a new dimension of the challenges facing the Free SHS policy.
The government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education has up to two weeks to deal with the SHSs School Uniform Suppliers Three Years’ Unpaid Supplies to prevent them from picketing.
