GES gives date for 1st-year SHS/TVET students to start academic work
After releasing this year’s computerised school placement, the Ghana Education Service (GES) says full academic work will commence from November 7, 2024, for all first-year second-cycle school students in the country.
In a statement sighted by GhanaEducation.org, the GES under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) said registration and orientation of the first-year students will begin on October 30, 2024.
Relatedly, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng has said the October 30, 2024 date for the first-year students formerly 2024 BECE graduates to report to their various placed second cycle schools is not compulsory.
Speaking in an interview, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Education said prospective second-cycle school (SHS/TVET) students from October 30, 2024, are to be in school for the registration process.
“Students are expected to go to school to begin the registration process which also goes through orientation. So it is not that if you do not go to school on October 30, 2024, you will lose your admission,” the MoE spokesman said.
Giving assurance that the second cycle school placement results will be out tonight, the Ministry of Education spokesperson said full academic activities will not commence on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
