There is good news for teachers as their November 2022 Salaries see a big bonus from Controller and Accountant General’s Dept.

Public School teachers are smiling to the bank as they receive good news regarding the payment of their Professional Allowance for the year. Apart from receiving their Cost of Living Allowance for November, teachers will also see their 2022 Professional Allowance of GHS1200.00 paid by the government through the Accountant General’s Department. The 2022 Professional Allowance is part of the income to be received by teachers for the month of November which has been validated already.

Again, the government has refunded an amount of GHS100.00 to teachers. The NTC Teacher Licence Refund is for only deserving teachers who were wrongly charged.

Good news for teachers as their Nov. Salaries see a BIG INCREASE

In a related development, Teacher Unions have made 11 requests which, if not met may lead to an industrial strike in early 2023

Per the letter dated 14th November 2022, the unions outlined the 11 critical issues as follows.

  1. Refund of GHS44.55 to teachers arising out of the one teacher, one laptop.
  2. The payment of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) allowance to teachers.
  3. Progression to grade progression to the Grades Director II & I arising out of the scheme of service.
  4. Delayed payment of allowance to teachers in areas designated as deprived delay.
  5. Delay developing a scheme of service for staff of Ghana Education Service (GES) since the adoption of the public service manual and policy framework in 2015.
  6. Delay in Lower ranks promotion since 2015.
  7. Some teachers who were promoted or upgraded since 2015 have not been placed on their right scale.
  8. Reversal of the SHS semester system to trimester.
  9. Delay in the payment of responsibility allowance in 2018.
  10. Delay in the payment of car maintenance allowance since 2018
  11. Review of the collective agreement

However, the teacher unions are to receive any feedback from the National Labour Commission on the matter.
