New Date for 2026 NSMQ Due To WASSCE Timetable Changes

Primetime Limited, the organizers of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), has officially announced a new date for 2026 NSMQ by Primetime Limited following a strategic review of the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.

This adjustment, made in consultation with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and the Ghana Education Service (GES), ensures that students can prioritize their final academic assessments without the burden of overlapping competition schedules.

Prioritizing Candidate Well-being

The rescheduling of the 2026 NSMQ regional and national championships was necessitated by the ongoing 2026 WASSCE timetable. Because a significant number of NSMQ contestants are final-year students, the overlap threatened to divide the focus of participating schools and students.

According to a press release by Primetime Limited, the organizers reviewed the updated WASSCE schedule and concluded that existing protocols—which traditionally held regional competitions before the WASSCE—were no longer optimal. By shifting the schedule, the organizers aim to protect the integrity of both the national quiz and the students’ academic performance, ensuring that teams can compete at full capacity during a more convenient period.

Under the revised roadmap:

• Regional Competitions: All regional championships will now take place immediately following the conclusion of the WASSCE.
• National Championship: The national finals will commence shortly after the regional competitions conclude and the representatives for the national stage are finalized.

2. Prempeh College: A dominant force from the Ashanti Region, Prempeh College holds an impressive number of trophies and is consistently a top contender, known for its tactical approach to the quiz.
