Oh God why? Rain storm kills 16-year-old girl, others injured

A heavy rainstorm has killed a 16-year-old girl and injured many others in Jachie, a suburb of the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region.

The devastating rainstorm took place on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Its destructive nature did not spare the roofs of buildings; it ripped many off.

The storm destroyed not less than 50 houses and structures in Jachie, ripping off their roofs. The storm has plunged a significant portion of the town into darkness.

The father of the 16-year-old girl killed by the rain storm, Mr. Charles Osei Tutu, has been distraught since the passing of his daughter.

In an interview with CitiNews, he recounted the circumstances that culminated in the death of his beloved daughter, Abena Ofoda.

He said that on Thursday, the strong, fast, and moving wind came along with the rain while he was at work. However, his daughter was at home in the kitchen. The roof had ripped off, causing her to become frightened. As a result, he relocated to another house, where his mother had left, only to return to find her dead, despite the expectation that she would be safe there.

“The winds were very strong on Thursday.” I was at the workplace, but she was with her mother in the kitchen.”
