1T1L to end Lesson Plan “FIGHTS” among headteachers, teachers, SISOs
The One Teacher One Laptop (1T1L) will end the Lesson Plan “fights” between headteachers, teachers, and SISOs when it comes to the preparation of handwritten lesson plans which have been the most preferred lesson notes.
The rejection of scripted lesson notes by some headteachers and SISOs with the introduction of the new curriculum created tension among the three stakeholders. The seemingly silent posture of the NaCCA and the GES on the issue further made it worrying.
However, the pronouncements of the Vice President, Dr Bawumia that teachers will not have to submit handwritten lesson plans is welcomed news.
Now that the laptops are in, and distributions will start soon from SHS, descending to KG. The GES would have no excuse for not accepting soft copies of lesson notes. However, the worry now should be for teachers in villages that do not have electricity. How are they going to make use of the laptops in such areas where the community is not connected to the national grid?

We cannot deny the fact that there are immense benefits to teachers and students when the Soft-copy lesson notes are accepted and used to teach learners. Some of the benefits are
1. It helps to include multimedia content into the lesson notes. That’s pictures, videos, audio, animations, etc.
2. Teachers can share ideas together no matter their location in the country. For example, a teacher teaching in class one of school A can share his or her ideas with a teacher in class one of school B.
3. The softcopy reduces the burden of writing the same notes in the subsequent academic years. You just edit the notes to suit your learners and the TLRs you are using.
4. Teachers will have adequate time to prepare and do more research on the methods and contents of what they will teach.
5. The “fight” between headteachers and teachers, teachers and SISOs will be a thing of the past.
In deed, the Lesson Plan “FIGHTS” are surely ending.
