Over 15k examiners to mark 2022 WASSCE scripts – WAEC
More than 15,000 examiners have been tasked to mark the 2022 WASSCE scripts of candidates who sat for the just-ended Ghana version of the international examination, a staff of the West African Examinations Council has said.
Speaking to an Editorial Staff of AcademicWeek, the WAEC official said his outfit usually commences the marking of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) scripts three weeks after the conduct of the last paper.
“Over 15,000 examiners across the country will partake in the marking of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination scripts. The marking usually starts 3 weeks after the administration of the examination,” he stated.
He said the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) this year has put in place adequate measures to place to ensure contact details of examiners contracted to mark the 2022 WASSCE scripts do not leak as it happened some time ago.
In a related development, the West African Examinations Council following an alleged leakage of this year’s WASSCE mathematics (Core and Elective) questions has said the examination papers of the two subjects will be marked rigidly without favour.
In a blog post sighted by AcademicWeek, management of the non-profit-making organization said it received reports of some handwritten extracts of the maths questions shared on a platform ahead of the conduct of the two papers.
“With respect to Mathematics (Elective) Paper 2 and Mathematics (Core) Paper 2 however, reports were received of some handwritten extracts of some questions on monitored platforms
The Council would deploy various internationally accepted assessment procedures to guarantee the credibility of results for the two papers. Investigations are ongoing and any further developments will be communicated,” it noted.
