Son arrested for allegedly killing mother with fufu pestle

In a disturbing turn of events, a 26-year-old farmer, Yaw Nimoah, has been apprehended by the Ghana Police for the alleged murder of his own mother, Madam Salomey Ama Serwaa, using a pestle. The grim incident took place in Yabram, a suburb of Dambai, the capital of the Oti Region.
Madam Salomey Ama Serwaa, aged 60, was reportedly the mother of the accused. According to sources, Nimoah had a history of threatening his mother, with the Assembly member of Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, Mr. Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, shedding light on the repeated nature of these threats. Mr. Bidaba revealed that Nimoah had previously threatened the elderly woman with a cutlass on multiple occasions, causing widespread concern within the community.
The situation escalated when Mr. Bidaba received a distress call from a concerned citizen who heard Nimoah shouting for help, claiming someone had smashed his mother’s head. Responding swiftly, Mr. Bidaba, along with the Unit Committee Chairman, arrived at the scene to find Madam Serwaa lying in a pool of blood on a mat, her head severely injured.

“I immediately called the police command and reported the incident,” Mr. Bidaba recounted. “The Police arrived promptly, arrested the suspect, and later returned to collect the deceased, who was then deposited at the mortuary of the WoraWora Government Hospital for preservation.”

A police source confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation into the circumstances of this tragic event has commenced. Yaw Nimoah remains in police custody as the community grapples with the shock and sorrow of this violent act.
