South Africa’s 2021 School Calendar For Basic Education Approved
South Africa’s 2021 school calendar for Basic Education has been approved by the country’s Department of Basic Education (DBE).
The country’s learners’ return to the classroom was delayed by covid-19 and other administrative challenges. However, in six days’ time, schools will be opened for young minds across the country.

The calendar for South Africa’s 2021 school year for basic schools clearly indicates important dates such as reopening, vacation, and duration for each term or semester.
To this end, school children in South Africa are expected to return to school on Monday 15th February 2021.
Children then return to the classroom, after a week off, on Monday 3 May, and will continue their studies through to Friday 9 July. Following a two week break, school is back in session on Monday 26 July, until Friday 1 October.

This day will mark the country’s first day of back at school for our children. Safety protocols will be high on the agenda to ensure learners and teachers are safe to acquire and share knowledge after the nearly one year of covid-19 disruption of teaching and learning across the globe.
