Tensions Flare at Theresa Kufuor’s Funeral as Bawumia and Alan Supporters Clash
The final funeral rites of former First Lady Theresa Kufuor took an unexpected turn as supporters of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and followers of Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, engaged in a heated exchange.
The solemn event, held at the Heroes Park in Kumasi, saw the atmosphere charged with tension when Mr. Kyerematen arrived at the funeral grounds. Eyewitnesses reported that supporters of Kyerematen began hooting at some ministers of state, creating a tense atmosphere. The former Trade and Industry Minister, on the other hand, exchanged pleasantries.
The exchange of hoots quickly escalated as NPP supporters retaliated, bringing the two factions to the brink of a clash. Security personnel swiftly intervened to restore calm and prevent any further escalation on the funeral grounds.
