The talk is too much: Teachers ask GES to do 6 key things now

Public school teachers employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) seem to be tired of what a cross-section of educators have termed “over talking”
The teachers working under the GES was the best of management, leadership, resources and motivation to help them deliver and meet the classroom expectations per their calling, they look forward to seeing more proactive actions and steps being taken and implemented by the manager of the pre-tertiary education with at least equal concern for the people resources and work instead of the many interviews they grant only to contradict themselves and leave the key issues that need to be solved unattended.
The 6 Things Teachers are requesting the GES to do
In a post that was shared on the official GES Facebook page, and sighted by Ghana Education News, one Kwasi Emmanuel called for the GES to do what is important first.
He called on the GES to provide textbooks for the basic schools. Textbooks have not been made available for learners since the new curriculum was released in 2019.
He further called for the GES to champion efforts to ensure learners in SHS are provided with the needed meals. “Provide food for the SHS students,” he wrote.
The poster further called on the GES to “Open the portal for teachers who are due for promotion to apply” Teachers who are due for promotion can only apply if the portal for initiating the process is opened.
Teachers who have been promoted are yet to be officially placed on their salary scale per the call by Mr. Kwasi who wrote “Place teachers promoted previous years on the salary scale”.
On issues pertaining to alleged intimidation of teachers, he called on the GES to halt intimidating tactics each time teachers of the service open up on challenges confronting the Ghana Education Service.
His call was “Stop the intimidation of teachers when they are open issues concerning education”.
In his opinion, it was time for the Ghana Education Service to “Find solutions to the many other problems confronting basic education in Ghana.”
